World War Z VFX Breakdown

World War Z is a film adaptation of Author Max Brooks’ much loved book of the same name. Although Mr. Brooks himself doesn’t affiliate to the connection between the book and the movie other than the title, the movie’s turned out to be pretty entertaining and a major blockbuster.crowdb338

Starring Brad Pitt and directed by Marc Forster, it revolves around an ex-United Nations investigator Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. MPC, Cinesite and Framestore were among a tonna VFX studios who collaborated closely to create innumerable effects shots in the Zombie Apocalypse.

MPC VFX Supervisor Jessica Norman and the MPC the team completed more than 450 shots for World War Z. MPC’s main areas of work were creating the hordes in Jerusalem, the plane crash sequence, the Wales sequence and the epilogue. In this podcast, MPC CG Supervisor Max Wood describes how MPC’s teams created the crowds of Zombies in the Jerusalem sequence for World War Z:
