The Making of ‘Oblivion’

Published on Aug 01 2013 // Behind The Scenes, Movies

Director Joseph Kosinski’s ‘Oblivion’ is a post-apocalyptic science fiction film based on his unpublished graphic novel of the same name. It stars Tom Cruise along with Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Melissa Leo and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Following his first directorial debut in the VFX loaded ‘Tron – Legacy‘, director Joseph Kosinski brings us another Visual extravaganza and just like his first movie this one also makes-up in extraordinary visual delight what it lacks in story. The most disappointing thing about this movie would be it’s similarity to another, much better movie in the twist near the end, in-spite of the director’s claim that it’s an original idea. While the rest of the movie holds up the suspense and action to a great degree, the final reveal just takes you out of the story and feels very tacked on. Still no one can deny the technological achievements of the VFX, in-camera effects and the extra lengths, the cast and crew went to bring the “beautiful desolation” of the world of Oblivion to the big screen. Here’s a bunch making-of videos that take you behind the camera of the production of the movie:
