Robocop (2014) Trailer

Published on Sep 07 2013 // Movies, Trailers

RoboCop is a reboot to another one of iconic Hollywood Science Fiction Action film by the same name released in the year 1987. It is directed by José Padilha and stars Joel Kinnaman in the title role, with Gary Oldman picking up the role of Dr. Dennett Norton, Michael Keaton as Raymond Sellars, Samuel L. Jackson as Pat Novak, Abbie Cornish as Clara Murphy (his wife), and Jackie Earle Haley as Maddox.

This will definitely divide the fans of the original trilogy. The very change in the look of the Suit (“it’s not a Suit, it’s you”) will upset half of the audience. Although they tastefully addressed it as a “more Tactical” update in the trailer, which makes sense. But updating the suit for the new generation aside, Kinnaman has huge shoes to fill with his casting as Alex Murphy originally played to perfection by the awesome Peter Weller and the Director has to followup on the Visionary Director Paul Verhoeven (Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Hollowman).

Even after a troubled production history, the movie is finally coming to screens in 2014. Darren Aronofsky and David Self were originally assigned to direct and write the film, respectively, for a tentative 2010 release. The film was delayed numerous times, and Padilha signed on in 2011. In March 2012, MGM announced an August 2013 release, but that was then changed to February 2014. The principal characters were cast from March to July 2012. Principal photography began in September 2012 in Toronto and Vancouver, with additional locations in Hamilton, and Detroit in the United States.
