With as little time as you have, I’d pick smeithong that you know really well, that you feel confident about singing. Nothing is more frightening than going to an audition feeling unsure about your material.Show tunes are usually the best way to go to audition for a musical, so stick with that genre. I’m a 5’4 female, and have been doing musicals for 10 years, here are a few songs I’ve had great success with Paris Original from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying Moonshine Lullaby from Annie Get Your Gun Honey Bun from South Pacific I Got the Sun in the Morning from Annie Get Your GunThese worked well for me, but may not for you.If you aren’t familiar with show tunes, listen to the style of music in the show you are auditioning for and choose a song you do know that has a similiar sound to it.Other pieces of advice DONT SING AMAZING GRACE!!!! I can’t tell you how many people sing that in auditions, the thing about songs like that, is your casting director will have heard that song a million times, and someone will have done it better than you!Pick up beat fun songs, smeithong that shows your range and your personality. Many people have gotten parts based on how they sell the song vs. how well they sing it. It’s not choir, so HAM IT UP!Other advice on getting the part .your audition begins when you walk in the door, not when you get on stage, so exude professionalism the second you are there. Be polite, and dress nice. Before you start, introduce yourself (nothing fancy just hello I’m Nancy I’ll be singing a selection from whatever )Prepare prepare prepare, read the script if you can, and read it alot. The more prepared you are, the more confident you will be and THAT is half the battle. When I audition I practice saying my name so I dont even risk messing that up!Break a leg sweetie, I hope you get the part!!! : )
